Vancouver — A Saturday groundbreaking event will help Vancouver-based Urban NW Homes celebrate the construction start of the company’s first net-zero energy home in the Wild Glen subdivision at N.W. 151st Street and 26th Avenue in Vancouver’s Salmon Creek area.
The 10 a.m. public event will take place at the subdivision. It will highlight techniques used to build the home, which will be constructed to produce as much electricity as the unit draws from the power grid.
According to a written statement issued by Urban NW Homes, the company’s Wild Glen project has been honored by the National Association of Home Builders as the first development on the West Coast to earn its highest, four-star honor under the National Green Land Development Certification of the association’s National Green Building Standard.
