Jie Xu, an assistant professor at Washington State University Vancouver, has received a $10,000 grant from TeloVISION, LLC to research an inexpensive device for cancer detection.
Xu is an expert in working with liquids and using microscopic sciences to develop biomedical devices.
TeloVISION is a life-science company based in West Lafayette, Ind., focused on developing fast, inexpensive methods of cancer detection for doctors and researchers.
Xu, an assistant professor in the School of Engineering and Computer Science, is researching a device that will use nano- and microtechnologies to separate cancer cells from normal ones.
“If successful, this technology may be used in point-of-care and clinical settings for cancer detection,” Xu said.
