A Vancouver family is urging area residents to donate blood during a special drive today.
Last November, Vancouver parents Brittany and Trevor learned their son, Jordan, had a rare form of liver cancer called hepatoblastoma. Jordan, now 23 months old, underwent six rounds of chemotherapy and surgery to remove a tumor and 70 percent of his liver before being deemed cancer-free earlier this year. Red Cross officials did not give the family’s last name.
Jordan received blood transfusions between chemotherapy treatments. The transfusions helped to restore Jordan’s energy, allowing him to enter the next round of treatment quicker, according to the family.
Today, the Red Cross is holding a blood drive and is urging people to donate on behalf of Jordan and other cancer patients, organ transplant patients and accident victims.
