Construction crews will briefly close St. Johns Boulevard at state Highway 500 on Thursday night, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. The closure, which will allow workers to install a new overhead sign on St. Johns, will begin at 9 p.m. Thursday and last until midnight, according to WSDOT.

Interchange ramps connecting the new St. Johns bridge with Highway 500 will remain open during the closure. Drivers will still be able to access the eastbound side of the highway from St. Johns, and exit from westbound Highway 500 to St. Johns.

They won’t, however, be able to cross the bridge. Detour signs will be in place.

The work is part of a $48 million project to rebuild the formerly signalized intersection into a freeway-style interchange. The project is scheduled for completion in 2013, according to WSDOT.
