The Washington Kaos fastpitch softball team tied for ninth at the ASA 10-and-younger A Western National Championship tournament.

The Kaos, from Vancouver, won both of their preliminary games then went 1-2 in the double-elimination phase of the tournament. The tournament ended on Sunday in Roseville, Calif.

Washington Kaos qualified for the Western tournament by finishing second in the Amateur Softball Association 10-and-younger A-level Region 15 Tournament, held in July at Delta Park.

The Kaos went 5-2 in the regional tournament at Delta Park in north Portland, losing twice to the Snohomish County Express — including 4-3 in Sunday’s championship game.

The Vancouver team finished with a record of 81-17 dating to the fall, and won five tournaments.

During pool play at Western Nationals, Kaia Oliver of Ridgefield pitched a no-hitter in a five-inning win over the NorCal Cruisers that clinched first place in the pool for Kaos.

In the double-elimination bracket, the Chaos opened with a 13-4 win over another California team. A 5-3 loss to KC Hitters — which placed third in the tournament — dropped the Vancouver club to the loser-out bracket. A 9-1 loss on Saturday morning knocked Kaos out of the tournament.
