I wish I had something new to report in the weather department but the month of August is rolling along as it should with a few hot days, a few cooler days, but mainly on the dry side of things.
With high temperatures over 100 degrees Saturday it was something to write home about for sure but on one note it was very dry heat with afternoon humidity running between 13 and 15 percent. Desert Southwest kind of heat!
Although it was much cooler Monday, it still felt very warm with the humidity back up in the 40-45 percent range.
The excessive heat (at least for us) and in and out of air conditioning for those lucky to have it, takes a toll on the body. Anyone feel kind of lifeless or more tired than usual Monday morning? I did ah, ha!
After a record 103 degrees Saturday it cooled (I use that word loosely) down into the 90s Sunday; Monday with full sunshine we managed yet another 90-degree day, three so far this season at or above 90 degrees.
Hey, did you see those beautiful towering cumulus clouds off to our east around 4 p.m. Monday? They had cloud tops approaching 30,000 feet. Some lightning was seen to the far southeast from Vancouver Sunday evening as a series of large thunderstorms broke out over Mount Jefferson and drifted slowly northwest. There were some 4,000 lightning strikes reported.
As I mentioned here the other day the rest of August looks pleasant with perhaps another hot spell sometime next week, so stay tuned to see if that develops.
