Vancouver — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has launched a public service announcement to educate homeowners about resources now available through the National Mortgage Servicing Settlement. The 30-second made-for-TV and Internet spot, titled “Homeowner Help,” is available for broadcast in English and Spanish.

HUD also has created a radio spot and a new Homeowner Help website and Mortgage Assistance Guide aimed at educating homeowners about options for assistance from the settlement.

The landmark $25 billion agreement between the Justice Department, HUD, 49 state attorneys general and the nation’s five largest mortgage servicers translated to $648 million for Washington’s troubled homeowners, including money for mortgage counseling. It also earmarked money to go directly to some foreclosure victims.
