Detectives with Vancouver police’s Major Crimes Unit are investigating a reported robbery outside the Safeway at 3707 Main St.

At around 9:30 p.m. Monday, a man and woman had just parked their car when two men approached them, displayed a handgun and stole a purse and other personal items, police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

The robbers are described as white males between 18 and 25 years old. One was described as having a medium build with brown hair and brown eyes and about 5 feet 8 inches. The other was slightly shorter and had a brown bowl-style haircut. Both were wearing baseball caps.

An officer arrived at the store 10 minutes later for an unrelated shoplifting call and was told about the robbery by the one of the victims, Kapp said.

Police sent a police dog to the area, but were unable to locate the suspects.

“There was a pretty significant time delay,” between the time the crime happened and when it was reported, Kapp said. “People can travel pretty far in 10 minutes.”
