U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, will host a community coffee event 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the On Deck Tri-Mountain Grille, 1701 N.W. 299th St. in Ridgefield, according to a news release sent out by her office at 4 p.m. on Monday.

Herrera Beutler’s challenger, Democrat Jon Haugen, said he plans to attend the event.

“I will see if they let me in,” Haugen said in an email sent out Monday afternoon.

The congresswoman uses her community coffee events to meet constituents, answer their questions, and update them on the political issues she’s working on in the nation’s capital.

Telephone alerts informing people about the meeting are sent to residents who live near the meeting location, but anyone can attend, Herrera Beutler’s spokesman, Casey Bowman, has said.

Tuesday morning’s get-together will be the 22nd time Herrera Beutler has organized such meetings with constituents over coffee.
