Brown’s Funeral Home in Camas is collecting old cellphones for veterans. Nearly 1,000 Veterans & Family Memorial Care Providers nationwide are official collection sites. May is Military Appreciation Month.

In 2011, the network of funeral and cremation providers collected enough cellphones to provide troops overseas with 1.2 million free calling minutes. Each old cellphone provides one hour of free talk time.

Brown’s is asking the public to drop off their old phones from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the funeral home, 410 N.E. Garfield St., Camas.
