Barrett Business Services Inc. on Tuesday reported a first-quarter net loss of $2.2 million, or 22 cents per share. That compares with a profit of $5.5 million, or 54 cents per share, during the first quarter of 2011.
The January-to-March loss stemmed primarily from “the seasonally higher burden of employment taxes,” the Vancouver-based human resources consulting company said.
The company’s first-quarter revenue was $82.4 million, up 20 percent year over year. That compares with revenue of $68.8 million during the first quarter of 2011.
