East Vancouver — A student team from Union High School won the regional Envirothon on March 27 at the Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education in Brush Prairie. The Envirothon is an annual high school competition where students demonstrate knowledge and problem-solving skills in aquatic ecology, forestry, soils, land use and wildlife. Regional competitions take place throughout the state in the spring of each year; the state competition is held in mid-May. Union High won overall first place and will proceed to state; a team from CASEE itself took third place.
