A man who implied he was armed with a handgun robbed the state liquor store in east Vancouver on Monday evening.

No money was taken. “He took liquor,” said Vancouver police Officer Ilia Botvinnik, who added he was not certain how much liquor the man took.

Rick Guilliams, 55, of Vancouver was arrested in a nearby field for suspicion of robbery.

The robbery was reported about 5:50 p.m. at the store at 13875 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., next door to the Safeway.

About 13 officers from Vancouver and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded.

Guilliams was discovered by K-9 officer Dash at 6:29 p.m. He was warned a dog could bite him. Botvinnik said the dog did bite the suspect. Dash is handled by Deputy Seth Brannan.

“He implied he had a weapon, no weapon was seen,” Botvinnik said.

Botvinnik said he understood that Guilliams might be a transient.
