Firefighters doused a car fire Tuesday morning in Brush Prairie.
Firefighters with Clark County Fire District 3 responded to the fire just before 6:40 a.m. at 21611 N.E. 181st Circle. Someone from the home called 911 to report the Volkswagen Passat was on fire in the driveway, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
Crews arrived and found a fire in the engine compartment and extending into the passenger compartment, according to a District 3 bulletin.
The fire was extinguished by 6:53 a.m. Flames did not damage the house, the bulletin said, and no one was reported injured.
Clark County Deputy Fire Marshal Ken Hill, who responded to the scene, said the car had been driven about three miles and the driver noticed it was acting funny and running poorly. She went inside to call for a tow truck. When she came outside again the car was on fire, Hill said.
The fire, which totaled the car, was caused by an electrical short, he said.
