It is certainly spring, especially in the Midwest, where Saturday’s very active weather saw more than a dozen tornadoes on the ground by midday. Nebraska and Kansas were hit hardest, with watches and warnings issued elsewhere as well.
A whole lot quieter in our neck of the woods — sunshine appeared Saturday and some filtered sunshine was forecast for today, with rain late today. The low clouds and fog were persistent Saturday morning and had many wondering if the yellow orb in the sky was indeed going to make its predicted appearance.
This week will be typical April: showers, sun, clouds; at this point no major storms to worry about. For the first half of April in Vancouver, both rainfall and temperatures are pretty close to — slightly below — average.
April 14 last year was far from sunny with a high of 52 degrees and ¿3 inch of rain. And that was followed by another inch the next day — more than we have had all thsi month! Yeah, April 2011 was part of that very wet spring, with 4.23 inches for the month.
