Clark County — The Winter Hospitality Overflow, a homegrown effort to shelter people who can’t find beds at local homeless shelters when winter turns nasty, has finished its season.

Begun in 2003, WHO is a collaboration between the St. Andrew and St. Luke Lutheran churches, which donate their floors for sleeping space. It is staffed by volunteers from all over Clark County. The WHO season lasts from November through March, housing dozens of people every night.

At 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, at the St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Orchards, 5607 N.E. Gher Road, the WHO will celebrate another successful season by thanking volunteers, sharing success stories and unveiling a Quilt of Hope.

For information, contact WHO coordinator Kevin Hiebert at 360-699-5106, ext. 103, or who@icfth.com.
