Best Buy will close its remaining big box store in Vancouver as part of a companywide move to close 50 stores in the United States.

The Mill Plain store at 16611 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., in the Columbia Tech Center, is one of 42 stores marked for closure by the Richfield, Minn.-based retailer in a press release issued Saturday. A mobile specialty store at Westfield Vancouver Mall and big box stores in Portland were not included on the closure list.

The Vancouver location was closed Saturday, but a recorded message on the store’s phone line indicated that the business would reopen for regular hours on Sunday.

In email to customers, the company said the Vancouver store will close May 12 “or when supplies run out, whichever is earlier.”

Best Buy once had two big box stores in Clark County. The company closed a store in the Hazel Dell Town Center in 2008 when it opened a location at Portland’s Jantzen Beach Supercenter.
