The number of Clark County homes in foreclosure surged in March from February, but were still lower than the same month last year, according to California-based RealtyTrac, which tracks foreclosures across the nation.
Countywide, there were 214 houses in some stage of foreclosure in March, up 59 percent from February’s 134 foreclosures. However, Clark County’s foreclosure rate in March was 21 percent lower than the same month last year. The county foreclosure rate last month was the highest rate out of the state’s 39 counties, up from seventh in February.
Nationwide, March foreclosures were down 4 percent from February and down 17 percent from the same month last year. RealtyTrac reported one out of every 662 households nationwide were affected by foreclosure in March. In Washington, it was one out of every 709 houses; in Clark County, one out of every 782 homes is in some stage of foreclosure.
