Salmon Creek — A new seating area at Washington State University Vancouver honors Earl L. Muir, who was instrumental in shaping the look of the campus.
Muir, who died in 2009 at age 77, graduated from the Pullman campus in 1954 and was the university’s staff architect until he came to Vancouver as campus development manager. He was involved in the initial stages of design and planning of the Vancouver campus.
“His vision, artistic skills and dedication to perfection are reflected in every building and facility,” a recent campus newsletter said.
The seating area dedicated to him is nestled above the campus’s treeline, southeast of the Firstenburg Student Commons, at the top of the pathway behind the library building.
