Annual maintenance work will temporarily close both Gee Creek Rest Area locations along Interstate 5 this week and next, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The southbound Gee Creek Rest Area, just north of Highway 502, will close from 5 a.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Thursday. WSDOT will close the northbound Gee Creek Rest Area, just south of Highway 502, from 5 a.m. Tues., April 17, to 7 p.m. Wed., April 18.
The closures will allow maintenance crews to complete several items on their to-do list, including pumping septic systems, removing encroaching trees, washing sidewalks and doing other groundswork, according to WSDOT.
Drivers looking for another I-5 rest area will have to leave Clark County to find one. The next-closest rest areas are 5 miles north of Castle Rock, or 14 miles south of Portland.
