The Water Resources Education Center will host a pair of events this weekend offering participants a chance to see wildlife up close.
The 12th annual Critter Count is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver. Participants will locate and identify frogs, snakes, salamanders and other amphibians and reptiles in the area. The event will begin with a short training session with a wildlife biologist at 9 a.m.
Participants will then venture out into the field to record “critters” until about 12:30 p.m. They’ll go into one of four field sites: Columbia Springs education center, Washington State University Vancouver; Battle Ground School District’s Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education; and a fourth site to be determined. Participants should dress appropriately and must obtain their own transportation to field sites. The event is free and open to all ages.
The event includes two shows at 1:15 and 2:15 p.m.
