Job seekers receiving long-term unemployment benefits will soon receive letters requiring them to attend an orientation meeting, the state Employment Security Department said Monday.
The letters will be sent to those who are receiving emergency unemployment compensation. Under federal law, most people who are receiving such benefits must attend an orientation at their local WorkSource office. The orientation includes a skill assessment and a review of work-search efforts.
Job seekers who fail to attend the meeting might have to repay some or all of their jobless benefits.
