Timbers support local soccer clubs
Several Clark County youth soccer clubs are included the Portland Timbers adopt-a-club program.
In partnership with sponsor CenturyLink in 2012, the Timbers provide players and coaches to serve as mentors to the youth club’s players and coaches throughout the season. Through the programs, Timbers players are paired with area clubs to help mentor coaches and players.
Brent Richards is the player assigned to mentor Camas-Washougal Soccer Club. David Horst is paired with Prairie Soccer Club. Futty Danso is paired with Vancouver Timbers (formerly Vancouver United).Among the program benefits, the participating clubs receive a clinic run by the mentor Timbers player, and a coaching clinic. They also receive on-field recognition of one selected youth player from the club at an upcoming Timbers home match.
