Grade: B
Look, we have to grade on a curve at this point. The Blazers going 2-2 in a week span is not the same as the Thunder or Lakers doing the same. So considering Portland won consecutive games last week for the first time since late January, a better-than-average grade is justified.
The phrase “Feltdown” became ingrained in the Northwest’s vernacular when Raymond Felton committed two late-game turnovers against the Jazz on Monday that likely cost his team the game. Just two days later, when Portland knocked off the slumping Timberwolves, the point guard gave out his address and invited critics to meet him at his apartment.
Not the smartest move, but perhaps in an act of self-defense, Felton went off for 30 points against Dallas on Friday to secure Portland’s first winning streak in 2 months. Haven’t said this before, and probably won’t say it again — but for one night, Raymond was the best player on the floor.But all good feelings — and likely the Blazers’ playoff hopes — went out the door Saturday in Milwaukee, when an ugly second half turned into a 22-point rout by the Bucks. Portland has now lost its last two games to Milwaukee by an average of 25.5 points.
In Focus
Raymond Felton probably had his most undulating week of the season when he blew the game against the Jazz, invited critics to his home, then scorched the Mavericks for 30 points. Along the way, he said that him returning to the Blazers next year was not out of the question, even though most people (including Blazers broadcaster Mike Barrett via Twitter) have ruled his coming back extremely unlikely.There don’t seem to be too many athletes as loathed by his own team’s fans as Felton is, but one thing you can’t call him is boring.
