Former Kalama port commissioner Jim Lucas dies

Longtime Port of Kalama commissioner Jim Lucas passed away Wednesday from complications due to cancer, the Port said Thursday.

The lifelong Kalama resident had served as a port commissioner since 1984. He was retired from the Kalama Telephone Co. and served community organizations, including the Kalama Lions Club and the Kalama School Board, according to the port. As a port commissioner, Lucas was a delegate to the American Association of Port Authorities, and was a board member of the Cowlitz-Lewis County Economic Development District.

A public memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sat., April 7, at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory, 5050 Mount Solo Road, Longview.
