Fishers Landing — Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia and several stormtroopers were among the guests to attend a “Star Wars” and sci-fi book fair at Pacific Middle School’s Library on March 21. Masterminded by Jedi Librarian Paul Warner, the event featured science-fiction and fantasy-themed crafts, games, trivia and giveaways. Costumed members of Portland’s Cloud City Garrison, part of the International Star Wars group known as the 501st Legion, showed up in force. Princess Leia painted kids’ faces and a young Jedi taught a “Star Wars” card game. When the school orchestra played out-of-this-world music, the conductor directed not with a baton, but with a lightsaber. Families purchased books for their children and also donated to the library. When Darth Vader and the stormtroopers checked out “Star Wars” books and began reading, the kids applauded.
