Washougal — Buggy Eakin had the usual birthday party for a young lady turning 6. There was a special request for gifts, however. All gifts should be non-perishable food. Buggy celebrated her birthday at Papa’s Ice Cream Parlor in Washougal with about 30 family members and friends.

By the end of the weekend, Buggy delivered about seven paper grocery bags of canned and boxed food, plus an additional 24 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to the Gateway Community Church in Washougal. Buggy said toys are not important, but caring for others is.

She cares about hungry people, cats and dogs and all animals, too.
