RICHLAND — Two agencies disagree over the source of chemicals in dirty rainwater in the Central Waste Complex at the Hanford nuclear reservation.

KONA reports rain exposed cadmium, mercury and PCBs.

The state Ecology Department believes the chemicals came from a leaking container. But the Energy Department says the chemicals were outside the container and the hazard is no greater than background level.

Officials hope to gather information in the next few weeks on the source of the dirty rainwater.
