What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

Remember the good ol’ days when the pro basketball world would clear its schedule to make way for the NCAA championship game? Thanks to the NBA lockout and subsequent re-scheduling to get in 66 games this year, Kentucky and Kansas will have to share space (at least in some markets) with 12 NBA teams. You would have though David Stern and Co. could have omitted April 2 from the new NBA schedule, but noooooooooooo.
Even though this publication is in the Blazers market, don’t think for a second we are going to miss “One Shining Moment” for the Blazers-Jazz game.

According to the Dallas Morning News, here’s the reason the NFL selected the Dallas Cowboys for the high-profile 2012 season opener at the New York Giants in the NFL’s first-ever televised Wednesday night football game.
The Sept. 5 game is on NBC, where the Cowboys rule — having played in six of the nine most-watched games on NBC since the network debuted its prime-time package in 2006. (Never mind that the team went 8-8 last year.)
“The Cowboys-Giants is golden,” said Al Michaels, NBC’s play-by-play voice told the Dallas Morning News. “There may be as many people out there who watch to see the Cowboys lose as watch to see them win.”
Geez, all the Giants had to do was beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

The Miami Marlins unveiled the major league’s newest ballpark on Sunday, hosting the Yankees in a spring training game.
In addition to having all the bells and whistles a new park brings, art is also on display. Like in the Bobblehead Museum.
The Miami Herald says it’s “actually more trophy case than museum” with 588 dolls representing every MLB team.
