Vancouver — A $15,000 grant will help Vancouver-based Columbia Springs kick off a series of sustainability workshops next week.

Columbia Springs, an environmental education center, received the grant from the Carolyn Foundation, according to Columbia Springs workshop organizer Kenneth O’Brien.

The organization’s first workshop on Thursday, will focus on native bee conservation. Participants will learn the life cycle and habitat needs of the mason bee, also known as the orchard bee. The workshop has a $10 materials fee per family.

Workshops will be held at Columbia Springs, 12208 Old Evergreen Highway in Vancouver. They’ll continue into December.

People interested in attending can contact O’Brien at 360-882-0936, ext. 225, or visit http://www.columbiasprings.org.
