Camas — The parent company of Kärcher North America, a power-washer manufacturer with a plant in Camas, is taking legal action against Minneapolis-based Tennant Co., a major competitor.

Germany-based Alfred Kärcher GmbH & Co. KG has filed lawsuits in Germany, Belgium and the U.K. accusing its competitor of false and misleading advertising claims for scrubber-driers that use the so-called ec-H2O technology. It says the company’s claims that its scrubbier-driers can clean floors without detergent have been refuted by an independent research institute.

Kärcher, a family-owned company founded in 1935, employs more than 8,000 people in 50 countries and 75 subsidiaries.
