Toledo built a 35-14 halftime lead and coasted to victory in the league opener for both teams.
“It was a lot of mistakes on our part,” La Center coach John Lambert said. “The numbers were pretty close. But it was mistakes on our part, and Toledo did a really good job of taking advantage. Those are mistakes we’ll have to correct if we want to beat Ridgefield next week.”
Mike Polyakov rushed 122 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown. Gunnar Lowery added 75 yards rushing for La Center.
Toledo’s Cody Meier opened the scoring with a 24-yard touchdown run, and Mack Gaul made it 14-0 with a 3-yard TD rush later in the first quarter. When Gaul scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter, it was 21-0 in favor of the Indians.
