Michael Knox set the tone for the Spudders by returning the opening kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown as Ridgefield went on to win the 1A Trico League opener at White Salmon.
The Ridgefield defense dominated early, forcing the Bruins into minus-17 yards of offense on their first four plays. Ridgefield also recovered a fumble on White Salmon’s first offensive play of the game.
Clayton Farr scored on two TD runs, Dalton Reis had a TD run and Sam Gillenwater caught at 25 yard TD pass from Gunner Long as the Spudders built a 34-0 halftime lead.
“We just pounded the ball at them,” Ridgefield coach Matt Martin said. “Then they started to blitz, focusing on Knox, so we starting giving other people the ball.”
