Battle Ground — On Aug. 26, nearly 1,000 children who attend Battle Ground School District schools flocked to Battle Ground High School for School Readiness Day. Hosted by the North County Community Food Bank, Adventist Community Services, SeaMar Community Health Center, ClubZ Tutoring, Sharing is Caring and the school district, the event helped kids get ready for school by providing immunizations, school supplies and backpacks and clothing. Ronald McDonald and Judy the Clown were on hand. The Battle Ground program is the largest charitable school-readiness program in Clark County, according to food bank executive director Sherry Lambert. Volunteers and donations are welcome for next year. Call 360-687-5007 or 360-904-0292 to learn more.
