Community ed sets fall course schedule

Washougal Community Education & Recreation has a variety of classes set for people of all ages. The fall 2011 catalog is available online.

Browse www.washougal.k12.wa.us/wcer to download a copy of the catalog.

Paper copies are also available the community education office at Hathaway School, Portable D, 630 24th St.; and the Washougal School District office, 4855 Evergreen Way. The community education office will also mail a copy of the catalog if requested.

CYT offering acting classes

Christian Youth Theater is offering once-a-week classes for children ages 6 to 18 in Beaverton, Portland, and in three Vancouver locations.

Core classes are musical theater, voice, dance and drama.

Specialty classes are also offered in dance, improv, advanced acting, props, Shakespeare and many other aspects of theater.

Children new to CYT may enroll in the fall session of classes for the reduced rate of $125.

To register, go to www.cytvanport.org and enter the coupon code “first.” CYT students, ages 8 to 18, may also audition to be a part of a fall production.

Beaverton is producing “The Jungle Book,” Portland is producing “Oliver!,” Vancouver is producing “Willy Wonka” and Vancouver East is producing Disney’s “My Son Pinocchio.”

Camas School District seeks citizen advisory committee members

In preparation for the new school year, the Camas School District is seeking volunteers to serve on the district’s Citizens Advisory Committee.

The committee consists of 18-25 school district patrons who advise school administrators and board members on a variety of issues.

Meetings are held the first Monday of each month during the school year.

Interested citizens are encouraged to visit the next CAC meeting on Monday, Oct. 3 at the JD Zellerbach Administration Center, 841 N.E. 22nd Ave., at 5:30 p.m.

Applications, due by Sept. 28, can be completed at the meeting, online at www.camas.wednet.edu or by contacting Lynette Marshall at 833-5412.

All completed applications will be forwarded to the School Board for consideration.

Preschool available at low or no cost

Educational Opportunities for Children and Families is offering free preschool for eligible families at several locations across Clark County, which include center and home-based.
