What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:
1
Good news for Huskies fans: The Washington football program is ranked ahead of Oregon. No, not on the field or maybe even in the classroom, but in something undoubtedly more important — financial value.
Ryan Brewer, a finance professor at Indiana University, has conducted a study that lists the value of each college football program as if it were a business that was for sale. Washington is 22nd on the list, valued at $136.2 million; Oregon is No. 30, at $102 million.
Important note: Only state universities were included, so that leaves out the likes of Southern California and Notre Dame.
Texas is No. 1 at a whopping $848.3 million — 75 percent more than No. 2 Georgia.
But when it comes to the Pac-12? Bow down to Washington.

Considering that three NFL teams are still winless and five others have one victory, there is plenty of competition in the “Suck for Luck” campaign — the right to draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the No. 1 pick.
But allow us to issue a word of warning for teams that might consider tanking their season in an effort to improve their luck, er, Luck: He doesn’t have to enter the draft this year. Luck is a fourth-year junior who could, in theory, return to Stanford.
Talking Points doesn’t think he will; he’s scheduled to graduate this year. But wouldn’t it be poetic justice if some team does its best to go 0-16 and Andrew Luck decides to stay in college?
