A bicyclist sustained nonlife-threatening Tuesday morning after he was hit by a vehicle on Southeast Evergreen Highway just east of the Interstate 205 overpass, officials said.

The 46-year-old man was riding near the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife hatchery at 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway just before 8 a.m. when he was hit by the mirror of a passing vehicle, said Joe Spatz, a Vancouver Fire Department spokesman.

The man was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, which was on trauma alert, meaning the hospital emergency room staff was told to be ready for his arrival, Spatz said.

The man’s name was not provided because of medical privacy laws.
