A 19-year-old Camas man was taken to a local hospital Sunday evening after crashing into a tree along state Highway 14 near Interstate 205, police said.

Kurtis Moody was driving east on Highway 14 around 6 p.m. when he fell asleep at the wheel, a Washington State Patrol bulletin said.

His 2002 Hyundai Accent drifted off the road to the right, went into some bushes and struck the tree.

Moody suffered two broken femurs and a laceration to his head, the release said.

He was listed in satisfactory condition Monday morning at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Moody graduated from Hayes Freedom High School in 2011. In June, he was featured in a graduation story in The Columbian.
