September home sales totals were higher than the same month last year in Clark County for the third month in a row, according to a report issued Thursday.

Last month, 504 new and existing houses sold countywide for a 22 percent increase over 414 sales in September 2010, according to “benchmarks,” an arm of Vancouver-based Riley & Marks Inc. appraisal firm.

In August, 511 homes sold countywide, up 36 percent from 375 houses sold in August 2010.

Steadily declining prices were part of the lure. September’s median sales price — half sold for more, half for less — was $185,000 for all new and existing houses sold in Clark County. It was down 13.3 percent from the median of $213,500 in the same month last year.
