Orchards — “Your helmet saved my son’s life,” is how a stranger greeted Doreen Hall at the store — because Hall was wearing a Lions club pin, and the stranger recognized the same logo that was on her boy’s helmet when he was hit by a car, and lived.
That’s according to a story in “Lion,” the magazine of Lions Club International, about the Orchards Evergreen Lions Club and its bike-helmet distribution program.
The article says the club has given away somewhere near 700 bike helmets at regular bike-safety clinics at local schools.
