Ridgefield — Clark County Fire & Rescue received an $1,800 donation from 40 & 8, a veterans group, during the first week of September. The money was used to install a retractable canopy on the firefighter rehabilitation bus. The canopy will help keep exhausted firefighters shaded in hot weather and dry in the rain. According to 2010 National Fire Protection Statistics, the largest percentage of firefighter heart attacks happen after fires and other physically stressful incidents. The rehab bus is a regionwide resource available to local law enforcement and other first responders. “Generous donations like the one from 40 & 8 help Clark County Fire & Rescue to advance its mission of protecting the community,” said Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy.
