Dentists donate umbrellas to crossing guards

Walnut Grove — School crossing guards will stay a little drier this school year thanks to dentists Dr. Richard Sipes and Dr. Stephen Wu of New Leaf Dental Care.

The dentists donated oversized golf umbrellas to all the elementary schools in Vancouver and Evergreen school districts last week.

The hope is that the umbrellas will provide a little warmth and shelter and get the attention of drivers so they will slow down and be safer while entering and exiting local schools.

“What a wonderful and thoughtful idea to help us do our job; brings a smile to know the community is thinking of us,” said Karen Dittmer, of Walnut Grove Elementary School.
