Marching bands from Evergreen and Skyview high schools did well at Saturday’s 23rd annual Sunset Classic marching band competition in Hillsboro, Ore.

In the preliminary rounds, Evergreen took second place and Skyview finished fourth in the Open Class.

In the Open Class finals, Evergreen again placed second and Skyview finished fourth.

Evergreen also won the People’s Choice award for favorite band.

About 4,000 spectators attended the event, according to The Oregonian.

Sixteen bands from area high schools made the trek out the Sunset Highway to Hillsboro Stadium. Many of the bands will return to Hillsboro on Oct. 29 for the Northwest Association of Performing Arts marching band championship.
