Clark County Special Olympics celebrates Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day

Washougal — Clark County Special Olympic’s athletes, coaches and families celebrated Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day at Camp Wa-Ri-Ki in Washougal on Sept. 25. Shriver founded the Special Olympics in 1968. She died in 2009. The camp invited the group of about 100 individuals to spend the day. CCSO Sports Coordinator Rick Cook spoke about Shriver’s history and the impact she made. The attendees participated in activities such as a three-legged race, scrapbooking, painting ceramic vases and touring the camp.
