THE PEACE AND JUSTICE MINISTRY at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church is sponsoring a presentation on helping children in Bangladesh, “Success in Bangladesh” at 7 p.m. High school students from Skyview High School will participate in three dramatic readings. A MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION by Bev Questad begins at 7 p.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 12513 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. Questad, a teacher at Skyview High School, will share her experiences this summer working in an orphanage in Bangladesh. She was a volunteer teacher of English for Distressed Children and Infants, International in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Students from the school will participate in the presentation with dramatic readings. CROSSWAY CHURCH, is starting a new series about heaven at 10 a.m. Oct. 16. The church will also kickoff a new interactive elementary children’s program, “What’s in the Bible” by Phil Visscher, the creator of “Veggie Tales.” The congregation meets at Salmon Creek Elementary, 1601 N.E. 129th St. 360-828-1663.

FOURTH PLAIN CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE will welcome the southern gospel group The Palmetto State Quartet at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Oct. 16 at 16807 N.E. Fourth Plain Road. The group was founded in the 1940s. 360-892-4462.

ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH will feature a performance of “Thérése” by Leonardo Defilippis, beginning with Mass at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the church, 400 S. Andresen Road. The locally-based St. Luke Productions is celebrating three decades of service through theater and the media. Dinner and festivities will follow Mass. COLUMBIA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH will have a weekend of spiritual renewal with Louis Markos, a C.S. Lewis scholar on Oct. 21-23. Markos was a fellow and tutor in English literature at Oxford University until 1954 when he was unanimously elected to be the chairman of medieval and renaissance English at Cambridge University, a position he held until he retired. Schedule: “Lewis Agonistes, Wrestling with Science,” 7:45-9:30 p.m. Oct. 21; “Lewis Agonistes, Wrestling with New Age,” 12:30-2 p.m. Oct. 22; dramatization of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” (appropriate for children) and lecture on the Christian meaning, 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 22; and preaching at the 11 a.m. worship service Oct. 23. FALL REVIVAL AND HARVEST CRUSADE at Community A.M.E. Zion Church, 3605 E. 13th St. The event will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 and 22 and 8 and 11 a.m. Oct. 23. HERITAGE CHURCH will host the Vessels of His Glory conference beginning with registration at 9:15 a.m. Oct. 22 at the church, 417 N.E. 65th St. The conference is sponsored by Vancouver Prayer & Healing Rooms.
