VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A Washington state agency is recommending approval of a wind farm near the Columbia River Gorge.
The Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council voted Thursday to recommend that Gov. Chris Gregoire approve the Whistling Ridge project in Skamania County. The governor has 60 days to approve the project.
The Columbian reports (http://bit.ly/oGXnOH) 15 of the project’s 50 turbines would be cut to protect views in the Gorge National Scenic Area.
The SDS Lumber Co. of Bingen and Broughton Lumber Co. of Underwood plan the $150 million project on a 1,200-acre site.
