Woodland — The city of Woodland have announced the recipients of the 2011 Employee and Volunteer of the Year awards. The awards are given annually to the top employee and volunteer who have been nominated and voted for by their peers.

Brent Murray, a 13-year police officer for the city, was presented the Employee of the Year Award by Woodland Mayor Chuck Blum. Murray’s co-workers described him as dedicated, loyal, honest, friendly and a person who goes above and beyond what is expected.

Blum also presented Justin Gordon with the Volunteer of the Year Award. Gordon, a volunteer for the Woodland Fire Department for the last eight years, was also honored by his peers as an honest, dedicated person who puts in many hours and is one of the most active people in the city.
