Felida — Instead of running from disaster, John Cordell runs toward it. This time the ShelterBox volunteer flew to Turkey to aid disaster survivors following two major earthquakes that recently struck the country.
Cordell is a retired police officer who volunteers with the humanitarian organization that provides shelter, blankets, a stove and other tools for survival after major disasters. This is his eleventh deployment.
“I’m eager to get to the area to help,” said Cordell, before he departed Nov. 9. “This is one of the few cold-weather deployments we’re responding to, and we need to ensure families get the shelter, warmth and dignity they need to survive in these conditions.”
