A three-week series of workshops by the Columbia Springs center in December will focus on a variety of at-home sustainability practices.

The first event, on Dec. 1, will teach participants how to manage stormwater by using permeable pavers, green roofs, rain barrels and gardens. A Dec. 8 workshop will focus on reducing a home’s carbon footprint and conserving cash using more efficient energy technologies and available rebates. The last workshop, on Dec. 15, will offer ideas on how to celebrate the holidays while saving money and being a good steward of the environment.

All three workshops are free. Each will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Swift Classroom at Columbia Springs environmental education center, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway in Vancouver.

The workshops are part of the “Growing Our Green Future events series, supported by a grant from the Carolyn Foundation. People are asked to register for the events at www.columbiasprings.org, or call Kenneth O’Brien at 360-882-0936, ext. 225.
