FIRST EVANGELICAL CHURCH, 4120 N.E. St. Johns Road, is the drop-off location for Operation Christmas Child. As part of Samaritan’s Purse, volunteers from around Clark County are preparing shoeboxes packed with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for children in 100 countries. Approximately 12,000 boxes were collected locally in 2010 for this project. About 86 million gifts for kids have been delivered worldwide since 1993. THE GREAT TURKEY HUNT begins at noon at Battle Ground Community United Methodist Church, 10300 N.E. 199th St., Battle Ground. Toddlers through middle-schoolers will hunt for turkey icons around the church grounds. Fifteen children will win a turkey for their family.
